08. I’m on a Boat (Lonely Island cover)
Completed the demo from back in November. Haven’t heard much feedback yet. I recorded the whole thing in my room, so it is what it is, but at least it’s what we actually sound like as a band.
Finished up the demo last week, this week I’ve been working on another DF-related project. Burgermeister & I have spent some time talking about working on releasing a set of four records with seven songs on each. It will be called “Imperial Obesity.” The first set is almost done, but I think I’ll sit on it for a little while since the demo was just finished.
Trying to tie up the DF loose ends since we took a break as a live band. Started a few new projects, including a cover band, a punk band and an electronic project. I’ll post more info once there’s some shit going on in any of the above camps.
Been spending some time thinking about my future. I’ve got two pretty solid choices, and they are nothing alike whatsover. I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it, but it’s gonna be soon.
Been awhile since I’ve had anything to say, but no news is usually good news with me.
I played a few shows this month with DF, went through two bassists, and eventually ended up deciding to give the ol’ Fudge a break for a few months. We need to regroup, write some new songs and get our shit together in general. Our last show was the day before new years, and I spent a few days in Bev Town with BT and Laurie getting completely annihilated.
I finally got to go on tour with Space Vacation, shit was pretty intense. Spent a lot of time getting stuck in snowstorms, drinking and sleeping on floors. In other words, it was pretty much like I had imagined. All the guys were awesome dudes, and it was cool finally getting to see the bros’ band for real. Natur was sick too, I would highly recommend them to anybody who likes metal.
Lots of ups and downs this week, but nothing that a few dollars and some sleeping pills can’t fix. Started off 2010 on a real sour note, but it looks like things might be looking up, at least in the “sombody likes you” dept, haha. Here’s hoping. Cheers.
Southbridge was a trip. Haven’t played there in a few years. Had a lot of fun tonight, we played (mostly) pretty good too. First night of the giant burg, had some kids autograph it. I think I bribed someone to buy our cd. pics are coming soon, hopefully.

Here’s the finished product. Looks like the font I chose didn’t carry over, but it looks pretty damn sweet on that colored vinyl. I guess I’ve got 2 copies headed my way via snailmail.
December’s right around the corner, and it looks like 2009 is going to end on a cool note.
The bros (literally) in Space Vacation are doing their east coast tour from the 18-22, I think. I’ll be going to see them as often as possible, and might roadie for them if necessary.
Dyslexic Fudgicle has got at least two gigs:
12/11/09 – Mill St. Brews, Southbridge MA
12/30/09 – Overtime Sports Bar, Beverly MA
and we might try to squeeze in a gig at the Yeti Room in Fall River if possible.
HALLOWEEN:
OK, Halloween was the week prior to the show, so I’ll start back there.
Me as Nikki Sixx riding shotgun
Tommy Lee & Pam Anderson
We went to Jeff’s Halloween Party, shit was tight. Here’s a picture of me rockin out at said party.
SATURDAY:
So it’s two days before our gig at the Taverna. It’s an open mic night, so expectations are pretty low, but the band is ready to get the fuck back out in front of people and start playing. We’re out of practice, so we quickly tried to learn a new set all while teaching Burn McNasty how the songs go.
New DF bassist Burn McNasty
Playing guitar
Emilio shreds. He also needs a new snare head.
Burgermeister sings the blues and Emilio lays down the beats.
Me & Riki V. Stormrider
Here is some video of us playing “Flight of the Grizzly” from that night.
We needed some new pictures with our updated lineup, so C.S. snapped a few shots
Another one of DF in the doom room
I thought this one was pretty cool too, but my favorites were:
Straight to the moon
This one was the winner.
At the very end of the night, THIS happened.
SUNDAY:
Burn McNasty spent the weekend rather than driving back & forth to the NH border. We had a short practice that night, but ended up mic-ing up all the drums and sending a line out through the PA into my computer. Emilio tracked 12 songs for a new demo we’re working on. I worked very late into the night laying down basslines and pretty much all the guitars until everyone has time to re-record them.
Emilio recording drum tracks
Feelin it. I had to play guitar into Emilio’s headphones so he could hear wtf he was playing.
Burn McNasty spent most of the night playing Diablo online. He ended up recording a bass track later that night for “Flight”
MONDAY:
So now I’m totally not rested at all, and it’s pretty much showtime. We practiced as much as we could before the show, then we started drinking and left to purchase some burgs. Then, on to the Taverna to totally ruin everybody’s Monday night:
Irish car bombs
We begin to shred. Stouche looks upset.
The legendary Riki V. in action
Burgermeister mouthing off to the crowd
EMILIIOOOOOOO
Prime shred
Dyslexic Fudgicle
And a good time was had by all.
A few people came out to see us, which was pretty cool. We definitely got some people to get up and leave during “Vampire AIDS.” As they were leaving, I told them that only people with AIDS could possibly be offended by our song, and they didn’t like that either. Afterwards, we all went to Sam Diego’s and got more drunk. Till next time.
C.S. was very cool and got a lot of pics and videos from the live gig and this weekend’s band practice, I will post as soon as I can.
Also, I feel like it’s worth mentioning that we tracked 12 songs on drums Sunday night in our very own D.F.H.Q. Spent the rest of the night recording bass (via X-Station) and pretty much all my guitar parts. Riki V., Burger and Burn McNasty got on a track or two as well. I’m feeling pretty good about the recording, it’s only the 2nd time I’ve ever tried to record drums and it went a lot better than the first (TLWS, lulz). I almost forgot about that. Anyway, I’ll post some pics/info from the show and maybe some new songs (with a real band) will start popping up soon.
“It’s about how you can get hit, and keep moving forward” – Rocky
I am actually pretty psyched about this. We practiced last night, we’ve got a whole new setlist, a new bass player (Burn McNasty), and a new record to promote. I’ve even started tracking a raw demo w/ all the band members actually playing on it. We have a shitload of new band pictures too, they’re all pretty ridiculous. More soon.
PS: The new Converge record is the best thing I’ve heard in a long time.
